A New Spin on the 3 R's

"R" is for "Rx, Rest, and Recuperate"
At the beginning of last week, I really started making an effort to get back into a good routine.  And, to be honest, I was excited to get to that point!  I had my menu plans made out and lesson plans ready to go.  I even spent an afternoon making these super-cool chore charts for my kids.  We were ready and raring to go.

However, by mid-week it was obvious that we were getting nowhere fast.  My middle child started running a fever early Wednesday morning, and a trip to the doctor's office later that day confirmed a case of the flu.  48 hours later, her younger brother followed suit.  And then, another 48 hours later, the oldest joined the club.

So... what do you get with three sick kiddos?  Lots of "Rx" (medicine), lots of "rest", and lots of time to "recuperate".  With beds made on every piece of living room furniture, tissue boxes and GermX within arm's reach, cool washcloths on every feverish forehead, and Mama there to comfort and assist every beck and call, it goes without saying that no schoolwork has been done.

And yet, that's another one of the beauties of homeschooling ~ we'll make it up in our own time.  No one is getting left behind because we'll just pick back up where we left off, once everyone is well.

I'm on the letter "R" this week in the A B See Photo Meme.  I don't always get to contribute each week, but I try to do so as often as I am able.  It's fun for me to be on the lookout for things that go with each letter of the alphabet and then try to capture a good shot with my camera.  Of course, I have a lot of fun photo editing, too.  My favorite editing program to use is Picnik.  I also like Picasa and Photobucket and use them sometimes, as well.  Anyways, the whole idea of the A B See thing comes from the website called The Homeschool Post, where I also am a contributing author.  The Homeschool Post hosts the A B See Photo Meme and once a week, they pick a few of the photos that have been sent in and feature them on The Homeschool Post website.  Plus, every 5 weeks or so, one of the entries will be selected for a prize.  I can't technically win a prize, since I write for The Homeschool Post, but I still enjoy participating in the meme.  Like to take pictures?  You should check it out!
