Of Mice, Men, and Homeschool Mamas

One week ago tonight, we celebrated the birth of a new year.  And already, one week into the year, I am behind schedule.  You remember the saying about the best laid plans of mice and men?   Well, my plans have pretty much fizzled, at least for this week that is one day short of gone.

Two weeks past Christmas now, and there are still boxes full of decorations stacked in the corner of my living room.  Oh, and there are still more decorations waiting to be removed from their resting places, which are high up enough to require the use of a ladder to retrieve them.  And, like every other January before, I am asking myself why on Earth we put them up there in the first place.

We also made a half-hearted attempt to get back to school this week.  It ended up being more of a challenge than I had initially anticipated.  Last week, I made plans out for our lessons this week.  However, I failed to take into consideration that we would have basketball games on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, church on Wednesday evening, the kids' PE day on Thursday, and two orthodontist appointments.  Needless to say, we've been stretched a little thin this week.  The kids have done math, but that's about it.

Being out late has left us all tired and run down, and has made sleeping too late in the mornings all too easy.  And sleeping late leads to getting up and around late, which leads to starting school late... and it's a relentless cycle.  And to top it all off, I've cut sodas out as of the 1st of the year and my mood has really suffered!

The worst of it may be that, even with all of this "to-do" looming over me, I am just sitting here like a knot on a log!  Blame it on lack of sleep, lack of caffeine, or whatever, but I have the feeling that it is about to come back and bite me if I don't get on the ball!

Please tell me I'm not the only one whose get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went!  Or, at least could you help me get outta this chair and go find it?

Thank ya kindly,

Where excactly was your get up and go before it got up and went? Did it leave any tracks of any kind. Oh wait, it's my fault, I saw it get up and go as I was running down the basketball court! L.O.L. Or at least that's when mine left me!
