Brought to you by the letter "S".

This week we celebrated our daughter's 12th birthday.  Traditionally, when it's one of the kids' birthdays, we get out the baby videos of the birthday boy or girl and watch (and laugh hysterically) together as a family.  But this time, our little videotape-watcher-thingamajig was messed up, so we weren't able to watch any of Ruthie's baby movies.  Instead, we dug out boxes of photographs that haven't seen daylight for the past 2 or 3 years and enjoyed them together..... laughing hysterically.  

This particular photograph caught my attention.  It is my Ruthie at about age 4, I think.  I remember the Barbie raincoat and the pink flowery umbrella, and I remember she even had a pair of pink rain boots to wear with it.  As for this picture, I have no idea what was happening at the time, but doesn't she look frightened?  Maybe she heard a thunder clap?  Or maybe it's not raining at all and she was just pretending?  We may never know.  I do know that it's a pretty cute picture, though.  I can hardly believe that she's already 12 years old.  Doesn't seem possible!

I'm on the letter "S" this week in the A B See Photo Meme.  I don't always get to contribute each week, but I try to do so as often as I am able.  It's fun for me to be on the lookout for things that go with each letter of the alphabet and then try to capture a good shot with my camera.  Of course, I have a lot of fun photo editing, too.  My favorite editing program to use is Picnik.  I also like Picasa and Photobucket and use them sometimes, as well.  Anyways, the whole idea of the A B See thing comes from the website called The Homeschool Post, where I also am a contributing author.  The Homeschool Post hosts the A B See Photo Meme and once a week, they pick a few of the photos that have been sent in and feature them on The Homeschool Post website.  Plus, every 5 weeks or so, one of the entries will be selected for a prize.  I can't technically win a prize, since I write for The Homeschool Post, but I still enjoy participating in the meme.  Like to take pictures?  You should check it out!
